Count the energy actually covered by the plan

For a comparison, you need your monthly kWh at points covered by the subscription. Energy charged at home or with another provider does not automatically create savings in your chosen network. If you travel irregularly, prepare separate scenarios for a normal month and a month with a longer trip.

Do not judge a plan solely by the number of visits. Two 10 kWh sessions and two 50 kWh sessions have different implications for value. You enter energy in the calculator; the typical session size is only an additional conversion aid.

A simple break-even example

Assume a fictional base option with no fixed fee at 3.20 PLN/kWh. The alternative costs 40 PLN a month and 2.40 PLN/kWh. The energy saving is 0.80 PLN/kWh, so the costs are equal at 50 kWh. Above this amount, the subscription is cheaper if all other charges are the same.

At 100 kWh, the base option costs 320 PLN and the subscription costs 280 PLN including the monthly fee. At 0 kWh, you still pay 40 PLN for the plan. These are example assumptions, not an operator's tariff. If the base option also has a fixed fee, compare the difference in fees rather than the full price of the new subscription.

Check the offer's coverage and commitment period

Establish whether the rate covers your chosen country, charging type, partner point and session start method. The price in the operator's app may differ from a roaming service price. IONITY, for example, shows current monthly and annual options with their terms. Do not assume every network has the same rules.

Check per-minute, start and parking charges separately. Our subscription calculator covers energy and fixed monthly fees. Annual commitments, energy bundles and tiered tariffs require a broader comparison. Dividing an annual price by 12 does not mean you can cancel after a month.

When is there no break-even point?

If the plan you are considering has an equal or higher rate per kWh and no lower fixed fee, greater consumption will not make it cheaper. With identical prices and fees, both options cost the same.

A lower fixed fee can also be combined with more expensive energy. The alternative may then be worthwhile at low consumption and cease to be worthwhile above the threshold. This is why the calculator shows which side of the threshold offers savings, rather than only a kWh figure.

Guide sources and scope

Example prices are calculation assumptions. Check the terms of the specific point before charging. Confirm car compatibility in its manual.
